Use the right level of control for the idea

Parametric generators expose the variables that define a family: number of rows, radial divisions, phase, amplitude, cell size, stroke weight, symmetry, or palette. Changing one value produces a coherent variation instead of a disconnected edit.

The visual builder is the complementary path. Add rectangles, ellipses, lines, polygons, paths, and text; then align, distribute, group, order, rotate, and change their weight. The document remains reversible through a full editing history.

Keep contrast and color relationships intentional

Geometric work often depends more on the distance between colors than on any one swatch. Imported palette mapping can select the closest perceptual matches, explore a nearby or wider neighborhood, or remap across the full library.

Controlled color generation can also shift a pattern while preserving its tonal roles. That is useful when a black, white, and red composition should become a new family without collapsing into colors that feel equally dark or visually indistinct.

  2. Develop the relationships

Questions before you start

Is this a 3D geometry or CAD tool?

No. It is intentionally a 2D graphic pattern tool for vector shapes, repeating tiles, optical systems, and exportable artwork—not a CAD, plotting, or 3D modeling application.

Can I draw my own shape composition?

Yes. The visual builder supports shapes, lines, paths, text, imported SVG artwork, grouping, alignment, ordering, stroke weight, palettes, and document history.

Can geometric patterns be randomized?

You can switch palettes, randomize colors across controlled perceptual distances, and use generator-specific variations where available while keeping the underlying composition editable.
